What is the Representative Payee Program?

Financial Pathways offers services under the Social Security Administration’s (SSA) Representative Payee program. This program was designed by the government to assist vulnerable recipients of Social Security benefits. These recipients, because of disabilities ranging from insecure living situations, to mental illness and substance abuse, to developmental disabilities, have been deemed by SSA as not able to directly receive and manage funds. SSA requires another person or organization to serve as ‘Payee’ and manage the finances of these individuals.

How does the program work?

As Payee, Financial Pathways receives the SSA benefits on behalf of the client and pays their rent, utilities and any other recurring expenses. We work face-to-face with clients to establish a budget and steward the use of any funds that may remain after monthly bills are paid. We also assist clients with other benefits programs, such as helping them apply for food stamps, Medicaid, housing, and making referrals and helping with paperwork for various needs.

Are we accepting new clients?

FPP is currently accepting new clients from all over the Unites States into the program. To get started, please download or print the Representative Payee Referral Form by clicking on the link below and fax it to us or mail it to:
